I would like to thank Bob McLaren for his analysis of the Patterson DNA Project and its emerging haplotype groups. What I'm calling the Robert Patterson (d 1775) group is one such group that is really gaining ground in terms of data collected and what it tells us.

The following information focuses on this one particular group. As I am building this page (June 2009) there are 12 participants thus far whom we know either descend from or are closely related to Robert "R" Patterson. Robert was born circa 1711, lived in Sussex Co DE (USA) from at least 1726 until 1738, and then a few miles west of Harrisonburg, Va until circa 1760 (give or take a couple years), and then near Kings Mountain along the North and South Carolina border (SC side) along Clarks Fork of Bullocks Creek. There he died in 1775 in what is now York Co, SC. Robert's father was named William Patterson, but nothing much is known about him.
