Nancy Agnes Ann "Nan" Patterson was the fifth child of Amos Patterson and Elizabeth Wilson. Nan was born in February of 1839, although the census records are somewhat hard to decipher when it comes to the children of Amos. She was living with her father in Gilmer Co GA in 1850, Rusk Co TX in 1860, her brother Wilson Lumpkin Patterson in Rusk Co TX in 1870, and her brother John J. Patterson in Montague Co TX in 1880 and 1900.

Margaret Wickes, a descendant of John J. Patterson, states that they always knew of her as "Aunt Nan". Nan never married. Nothing further is known of her at this time.
