Faye Moran has an excellent history on the genealogy of many families of Stokes and Forsyth counties, and in this case, sheds light on the Conrads of Forsyth County in general, and Rufus and Robert C Conrad in particular. I don't find Vance E Conrad in this pedigree however, so there may not be any connection between him and these other Conrads. Really, the only Conrad who's lands were later in Brookberry was Robert C Conrad, but Rufus appears to be his 1st cousin.

The above family group shows that Isaac's step mother was Rebecca Lash, presumed niece of Nathaniel Lash, who is buried on Brookberry Farm! Robert C Conrad's land is known to have come from Leonard Conrad, as well. Flynts live just north of Brookberry, and Ketners were on the western edge of, and part of, Brookberry.

There were two John Leonard Conrads, father and son.
The first John Leonard Conrad (son of Jacob and Catharina Reyer Conrad) was born Feb 21, 1787 and died September 17, 1865
He married twice. His first wife was Annie Vest (I have no birth or death dates for her as she is not in our line). They produced the following children:
Joseph Conrad (March 19, 1806 - Sept 19, 1889)
Sarah Conrad (Oct 11, 1810 - March 1, 1898)
Samuel Conrad (Sept. 12, 1812 - unknown)

The John Leonard above married Lisetta Carolina Conrad (Feb 18, 1836 - Nov 16, 1925) married on May 17, 1857 they produced the following children:
Eliot Monroe Conrad (April 4, 1858 - Dec. 1, 1894)
Rufus Virgil (Oct. 23, 1859 - March 19, 1956)
James Edwin (Nov 13, 1861 - March 6, 1918)
Rufus Virgil married Sarah Lee Ziglar (Jan 23, 1863 - Jan 20, 1926) on Feb 18, 1880) They had 10 children and I have the info for all of them but I will shorten this for now to just Vance Elmer who was my great grandfather.
Vance Elmore (Oct. 26, 1888 - April 28, 1981) married Cora Lee Thacker (Aug. 15, 1892 - Jan 22, 1965) on Dec 14, 1913. He produced my Grandfather, Thomas Lee Conrad who married Sarah Swaim. They produced my Mother Janice Lorraine.
Vance's homeplace is still on Meadowlark. If you drive south from Olivet Church, you pass Brookberry on the right, plus 3 houses close together, (the 3rd is my grandfathers old home, it is now a shade of purple I believe) then a field and a larger house with lots of outbuildings (including a quansahut) with a dilapidated dairy barn on the left side of the rode, that homeplace on the right was Vance's. One of his grandsons lives there now.
